More Confection Progress

Today I've got on with some more of the confection brief, as on Friday I got the business card, letterhead and business card almost done.
I feel like I'm progressing quite well with this brief, I would like to get it almost complete by the final crit next wednesday. So I can then just make a few changes and get it off to print in good time before it gets hectic down in the digital print room.
I managed to get into print today, and print off one of my letterhead ideas. But not as a final resolution, I just wanted to see how the purple of identity and other features came out on the grey paper stock I've bought. And luckily it was a success! Perfect infact. So that's a weight off my mind, I don't have to go back and amend all the ideas I've put together.

Anyways, back to the work I've got done today.

This is just one quick idea for the receipt design for Sweet Enough. Really straight forward design. But the one on the right is the card/holder that you sometimes get receipts in from posh shops. I'm not really sure if it's relevant. It's a bit too fancy for a sweet shop, and it doesn't really work with the whole subject of my FMP, sustainability. As it's unnecessary packaging! But we'll see.

I've put together quite a few ideas for the bag design. Most of them are working well, I like the way they're coming along. The only aspect I don't particularly like about the bag will be the production of it. Printing it and them constructing it, as that's not one of my stronger points to design!
It'll have to be done through a combination of speaking to James downstairs and nagging Toni!

Here are just a few ideas I've done for the labels of the sweet jars. I'm struggling to do this, I've done a few more to these, but they're rubbish!
I still need to spend a bit more time on this though, so watch this space!

And finally, the latest thing I've got round to doing today is possible website layouts. I'm not intending to get a website for my imaginary shop up and running, I just want to show what the layout might look like, and possibly the navigation of it.

Sweet Jar Labels

The next step with the confections brief is the design development of things such as bag designs, a webpage layout, sweet jar labels and packaging etc.
I'm currently doing the labels, so have just popped onto google for some inspiration and this is what I've found.
This top on it my favourite, with the label on a swing tag type thing around the top of the jar. It's sweet.







There are all sorts of things I can try out, whether it be a label stuck to the side or ribbon around the top. But I'm looking forward to putting together some ideas anyways!

'Salvedge' Evaluation

I've now got the stage with the Salvedge brief where it's out of my hands now.
I've done all that was intended during this collaboration with Kyle.

We both created our own designs for the identity to take forward to Steve, where he ended up choosing one of my designs.

Then we went away again and put together our own stationery designs using the chosen identity design. Creating a business card, letterhead and compliment slip. Showed Steve a selection of both our ideas, and he chose one of Kyle's stationery ranges.

So Kyle then put it together ready to go to print, along with a folder. And it's now in Steve's hands and he's organising the printing of it, as it's with one of his friends, Duncan Beal. But who know's when and if we'll receive the finished product. I just it's in time for submission!

Sweet Stuff

I've got my chosen identity, I've started getting on with the straight forward part of this brief, like a business card, letterhead and compliment slip.
Now it's time to start getting on with some fun stuff! I'v been browsing the internet and looking for some inspiration, when I came across these poster designs. There's a cute traditional feel to them, which makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside! I like it!

Confections Progress

Today I made progress on the confections brief with the identity I created the other day.

I've had a go at putting together a business card, letterhead and a compliment slip.
I'm pleased with the progress I'm making, but I don't think these are any final resolutions!

Hotel Chocolat

As I'm making good progress with the development of the identity of the confectioners 'Sweet Enough', I've started having a look at what's already out there. What other people are doing.
I've been looking at the Hotel Chocolat site, to have a gander at what they're doing with the packaging of the chocolates, the range, and any other bits that might help spark up an idea for mine.


^ Simple straight forward logo works well. Is sophisticated and classy.

Again, same with the whole identity and branding of HOtel Chocolat, it's very sophisticated, all dark colours that work extremely well in all cases.
It's all lovely. I want some chocolate now!!

Papabubble

I came across the shop Papabubble whilst looking through a book called 'One Off - Independent Retail Design' (something like that anyways). Perfect example of the kind of work I'm looking at doing for the confectioners brief. A modern sweet shop, located in New York, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Tokyo.

I love everything from the packaging, to the stickers, to the colours used, the typeface, the shop layout, to the opening times sign. Simple, clean, straight forward design...lovely!
